SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. — Circuit Court Judge Clifton Drake has sentenced Jack Christopher Tchorzewski to 12 years in Florida’s Department of Corrections to be followed by three years of probation for the crimes of DUI Manslaughter and Grand Theft Auto, State Attorney Ginger Bowden Madden has announced.

Tchorzewsk previously pled no contest to the offense on January 3, 2022.

On February 10, 2020, Tchorzewsk reportedly caused a head-on collision that claimed the life of a Santa Rosa County resident. The crash occurred on Berryhill Road near the intersection with Whispering Woods Drive.

Tchorzewsk drifted into the oncoming lane and caused the crash without attempting any evasive action, Bowden said. The victim passed away at the scene.

Witnesses and investigators observed signs of impairment from Tchorzewsk consistent with a central nervous system depressant. Bloodwork revealed the presence of alcohol, alprazolam (Xanax), and Nordiazepam in Tchorzewsk blood in sufficient quantities to cause impairment.

Four years of the incarceration sentence must be served as a mandatory minimum sentence.

Additionally, Tchorzewsk’s driver license was permanently revoked.

The case was investigated by the Florida Highway Patrol and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Matt Gordon.
