FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — Deputies with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) arrested a man last week who was suspected of a pair of convenience store burglaries in Fort Walton Beach and Shalimar.

According to the OCSO, deputies responded to a burglary at a Fort Walton Beach convenience store on North Eglin Parkway around 4:45 a.m. Thursday. A white male suspect was reportedly seen on video using a hatchet to break the store’s glass front door.

After allegedly stealing multiple items, the suspect fled on foot.

Deputies said they also discovered that a suspect matching the same description had reportedly burglarized a convenience store in Shalimar earlier.

A short time later, following a report by the patrol deputies, an OCSO investigator driving to work spotted an individual matching the burglary suspect’s description walking on Highway 98 on Okaloosa Island.

Klynn Dennis Jones, 34, reportedly of Baker, was taken into custody after allegedly attempting to resist deputies.

According to the OCSO, Mr Jones was wearing the same clothes shown in the video from the burglaries and still had stolen property in his possession.

Jones was charged with burglary, theft, possession of a weapon or ammo by a convicted felon, and resisting arrest without violence.
