January 31 COVID-19, vaccination report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health on Sunday reported 68 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There are 14 new cases in Niceville and Valparaiso.

The FDOH reports five people received vaccinations in Okaloosa County on Saturday. The cumulative number of people vaccinated in Okaloosa is 15,661, and 1,634 people have completed the vaccination series.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa is 16,707.

The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 286, one more death since the previous day.

Statewide, 7,788 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,721,377. The total number of Florida residents who have died from COVID-19 in the state is 26,479.

The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 621, two since the previous day. Currently, there are 50 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report there were 733 test results returned in Okaloosa with 68 positives. The daily positivity rate is 9.28 percent.

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 19.87 percent for the week ending January 30, down from 19.96 percent the previous week.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 9.3 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
