PANAMA CITY, Fla. – A Panama City man has been arrested by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) after he was allegedly found with child sexual abuse material.
FDLE agents arrested Jason William Roberts, 37, of Panama City, on one count of promoting the sexual performance of a child and 20 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, the FDLE has announced.
According to the FDLE, an investigation began in June that was aimed at identifying individuals downloading and sharing child sexual abuse material online. An IP address belonging to Roberts was reportedly identified as sharing illegal images.
The FDLE said it executed a search warrant at Roberts’ residence on Thursday, where they conducted an on-site forensic preview of his computer. According to the FDLE, its preview revealed numerous images depicting the sexual abuse of children, some as young as six years old.
Roberts was booked into the Bay County Jail. The case will be prosecuted by the State Attorney’s Office, 14th Judicial Circuit.
