The Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra will ring in the holiday season in festive style Friday, December 12 at 7:30 pm with a Holiday Pops concert in the mainstage theater of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center.
The sounds of the season will fill the air as the NFSO, joined by the Northwest Florida Symphony Chorale and Belle Voci women’s vocal ensemble, perform some of the most beautiful holiday music ever written, as well as carol sing-along with the audience, and more. The NFSO Holiday Pops concert is sponsored by ERA American Realty.
The concert will include popular holiday music such as Leroy Anderson’s A Christmas Festival, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Today Shall be My Dancing Day, Let It Snow and a variety of Carols such as Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence, While Shepherds Watched, O Come All Ye Faithful, The First Noel and more.
The college’s select Belle Voci women’s vocal ensemble and the Northwest Florida Symphony Chorale, more than 60 of the region’s finest vocalists, will join the concert to present works such as Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols, portions of Johann Sebastian Bach’sChristmas Oratorio, Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus and more.
Now in its 28th season, the NFSO is the Emerald Coast’s premier, fully-professional orchestra and performs in residence at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville. The concert is part of the NFSO’s 2014-15 “A Musical Voyage” season that reflects a broad spectrum of artists, events and music from around the globe.
NFSO concert tickets are $25 each adult and $18 for Active Duty Military and their guests. Youth age 18 and younger are also $18 each. NWFSC students may request one free ticket per student ID in-person from the Box Office, space permitting. The NFSO was established in 1987 under the auspices of Northwest Florida State College. The NFSO is under the direction of Jeffrey Rink, Music Director and Conductor. Rink is also a faculty member at NWF State College, and holds the Mattie M. Kelly Distinguished Endowed Teaching Chair in Music and Orchestra Conducting.
