FLORIDA — The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has announced the 2025 recreational season for gray triggerfish in Gulf state and federal waters will open August 1 and remain open until January 1, 2026.
The FWC reminds anyone planning to fish for gray triggerfish or other designated reef fish from a private recreational vessel in Gulf waters that they must sign up for the State Reef Fish Angler Designation.
As a State Reef Fish Angler, participants may be selected to receive a mail survey component of the State Reef Fish Survey. By completing the survey, anglers help improve recreational data used to guide management decisions and ensure the best possible fishing opportunities in Florida.
For current recreational gray triggerfish regulations, the FWC advises anglers to visit MyFWC.com/Marine and click on “Recreational Regulations” and “Triggerfish.”
More information about the State Reef Fish Survey is available at MyFWC.com/SRFS.
The gray triggerfish season applies to both state and federal Gulf waters.
