Governor appoints Niceville resident to circuit court

NICEVILLE, Fla. — Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed three judges to judicial positions across Northwest Florida, including a Niceville resident to the First Judicial Circuit Court.

David Stevens of Niceville has been named a judge on the First Judicial Circuit Court, DeSantis announced on Nov. 7.

Mr Stevens has served as the Deputy Chief Assistant State Attorney in the First Judicial Circuit since 2023. Previously, he was the owner of Stevens Law Firm, PLLC.

Stevens earned his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and his juris doctor from Regent University School of Law. He fills the judicial vacancy created by the enactment of HB 5401.

Other appointees include Ryan Love of Pace, who has served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of Florida since 2008. Mr Love will also serve on the First Judicial Circuit Court, filling the vacancy left by the resignation of Judge Wells.

He previously served as an Assistant State Attorney in the First Judicial Circuit and holds degrees from Florida State University and Florida Coastal School of Law.

Matthew Gordon of Pensacola has been appointed to the Santa Rosa County Court. Mr Gordon has been an assistant state attorney in the First Judicial Circuit since 2006.

He earned his degrees from the University of Florida and Florida State University. Mr Gordon fills a vacancy created by the enactment of HB 5401.
