The world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra performs in concert to benefit the Niceville High School Band program on February 2, 2016, 7:30 p.m., in the mainstage theater of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center in Niceville.
Tickets are now on sale for $25 main floor and $20 balcony from the Mattie Kelly Arts Center Box Office. Contact the Box Office at (850) 729-6000 or at www.mattiekellyartscenter.org.
The legendary Glenn Miller was one of the most successful of all dance bandleaders back in the Swing Era of the 1930’s and 40’s. Following Miller’s death, interest and popular demand led the Miller Estate to authorize the formation in 1954 of the present Glenn Miller Orchestra, which has performed for decades.
Today, the 18 member ensemble continues to play many of the original Miller big band arrangements as well as some more modern selections arranged and performed in the Miller style and sound. The Niceville High School Big Band Jazz Ensemble will also perform a song with the orchestra at this event.
Box Office phone and in-person hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and 90 minutes prior to the concert. The Mattie Kelly Arts Center is located on the Niceville campus of NWF State College at 100 College Boulevard and is easily accessible via Interstate 10, U.S. Highway 285 and Highway 85.
Proceeds from the concert support the Niceville High School Department of Bands and the public school’s music education program.
