OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — A fugitive wanted in connection with a 2021 homicide near Fort Walton Beach has been captured in Mexico following an anonymous tip, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO).

John William Galvao-Sahb, 23, was wanted on an OCSO warrant for first-degree premeditated murder in the shooting death of Earnest Riggs Jr. on March 17, 2021.

The sheriff’s office said the arrest followed a four-year investigation conducted in partnership with the United States Marshals Service Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force.

A recent anonymous tip submitted to Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers reportedly provided the information that led to Mr Galvao-Sahb’s location in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

In June 2025, the United States Marshals Service took Galvao-Sahb into custody. He was extradited back to the United States and is currently pending transfer to Okaloosa County.

Mr Galvao-Sahb had also been featured on the national television program In Pursuit with John Walsh.

“This case is a powerful example of how anonymous tips can make a real difference,” said Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers Coordinator Nicole Hodskins.

“Because someone chose to speak up, a dangerous fugitive wanted for murder is now in custody. We’re incredibly proud to be a bridge between the public and law enforcement in the pursuit of justice.”
