FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — The Fort Walton Beach Police Department conducted a multiagency safety checkpoint over the Labor Day weekend, which the agency says resulted in the arrests of multiple drivers.
According to the Fort Walton Beach Police Department (FWBPD), the multiagency effort included the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol.
During the operation, the FWBPD said multiple drivers suspected of DUI were removed from the roadway along with trafficking amounts of narcotics.

According to the FWBPD’s statement, 512 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, 71 traffic citations and warnings were issued, 49 vehicles were stopped, there was one weapons violation, eight arrests for suspected DUI, one arrest for alleged fraudulent vehicle registration, and trafficking amounts of fentanyl were reportedly seized.
