Travaess McLemore, 41, appeared for arraignment in Pensacola on Sept. 23 before United States Magistrate Judge Zachary C. Bolitho. A jury trial is scheduled for Nov. 10 before District Court Judge T. Kent Wetherell II.

If convicted, Mr McLemore faces up to life in prison.

The case is the result of a joint investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Jeffrey Tharp is prosecuting it.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office noted that the charges stem from Operation Take Back America, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative aimed at disrupting cartels, transnational criminal organizations, and violent crime.

An indictment is merely an allegation and not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial, during which the government must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
