According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO), a nurse taking a work break near an employee parking lot at HCA Fort Walton Beach – Destin Hospital on Mar Walt Drive was “blitz-attacked” by a man with a tire iron early Thursday morning.

Raul Milla Jr., 27, has been charged with attempted felony murder, the OCSO said.

According to the OCSO, the woman fought off the attacker but not before being struck five or six times in the head, causing severe lacerations and swelling.

Reportedly, the incident took place around 3 a.m.

The victim was able to give OCSO deputies a description of her attacker, and deputies said they located him riding a bicycle nearby.

According to the OCSO, a bloody tire iron was found in the bicycle basket, and Milla’s shirt had a fresh blood stain on the front.
