FLORIDA — Springhill Villas in Pinellas Park has received the Triple E Award for Energy Efficiency Efforts from the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC).
According to the PSC, Springwood Villas received the award for its energy upgrades and conservation efforts.
“Springhill Villas provides a great location and many excellent amenities for its residents while also focusing on ways to save energy and money for the community,” said the PSC.
Springwood Villas, located in Pinellas Park, consulted with Duke Energy on improving energy efficiency and reducing costs. As a result, Springwood upgraded its community center HVAC systems, upgraded three small heat pumps, upgraded clubhouse insulation, and repaired five HVAC units.
“We’re so pleased with our energy efficiency upgrades that we’re now concentrating on window repairs and tinting to further curb energy usage,” said Jennifer Hanks, president of Springwood Villas.
“Our residents appreciate the improvements that keep temperatures comfortable while they enjoy exercise classes and social gatherings in the community facilities.”
According to Melissa Seixas, Duke Energy Florida state president, Duke Energy is committed to helping customers manage their energy usage better.
“Through Duke Energy conservation measures, we could provide Springwood Villas with more than $2,100 in incentives and reduce their annual energy use by 16,400 KWH—a savings of $1,640 for the community,” she said.
