FLORIDA – A multi-convicted Florida felon has been indicted for possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Jojuan Lindsey, 27, of St. Petersburg, has been charged with one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg announced the return of an indictment last week charging Lindsey.

If convicted, Lindsey faces up to 15 years in federal prison.

According to the indictment, on December 27, 2022, Lindsey possessed a Glock model 42 semiautomatic pistol and six rounds of Hornady 38 Auto ammunition. Lindsey has previously been convicted of six felonies, including battery of a law enforcement officer; burglary; fleeing or eluding a law enforcement officer; and three separate convictions for the sale or delivery of heroin.

As a previously convicted felon, Lindsey is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition under federal law.

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the St. Petersburg Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Samantha Newman will prosecute it. Assistant United States Attorney Suzanne Nebesky is handling the forfeiture.

An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence.
