The funding allowed North Bay Fire to obtain a chest compression system valued at $17,117. The device provides uninterrupted, contactless compressions at a constant rate and depth during cardiac emergencies, reducing first responder fatigue and increasing patient survival chances.

During an event Thursday at Firehouse Subs in Niceville, Firehouse Subs franchisee Deborah Simon and North Bay Fire representatives gathered for an official check presentation to commemorate the grant.

“Since adding this tool to our arsenal four months ago, it has already made a significant impact,” said Ryan Adair, Battalion Chief, North Bay Fire District.

“In addition to this case, we’ve seen three other cardiac arrest patients regain pulses and achieve positive outcomes thanks to this lifesaving device. This remarkable outcome would not be possible without the support of the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.”

One such case reportedly involved a 72-year-old woman who suffered cardiac arrest. North Bay Fire personnel utilized the device to administer compressions for 29 minutes before successfully restoring her pulse.
