ORLANDO, Fla. — A Central Florida fentanyl supplier linked to a drug-trafficking organization has been sentenced to 20 years in prison, said Attorney General James Uthmeier.

According to the investigation, Jazzmeen Underdue Montanez was said to be the highest-ranking member of a drug-trafficking organization that distributed fentanyl mixed with xylazine and cocaine.

“Fentanyl is the deadliest drug we’ve ever faced as a state—when combined with xylazine, it is even more lethal,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier.

“Due to the vigilance and dedication of our law enforcement partners, Assistant Statewide Prosecutor Jenniza Rosado secured a 20-year prison sentence, and I thank ASP Rosado for bringing justice in this case.”

Ms Montanez reportedly supplied narcotics to other members of the organization, who then distributed them at the street level.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office reportedly obtained more than 20 grams of fentanyl from various members of the organization and seized 500 grams of fentanyl during a traffic stop. Orange County Sheriff John Mina stated that the amount was enough to cause fatal overdoses in approximately 260,000 people.

Ms Montanez pleaded guilty to conspiracy to traffic in fentanyl in an amount of 28 grams or more.
