February 7 COVID-19, vaccination report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health on Sunday reported 38 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There is one new case in Niceville and Valparaiso.

The FDOH reports 22 vaccinations were administered in Okaloosa County the previous day. The cumulative number of people vaccinated in Okaloosa is 17,443.  The number of people who have completed the vaccination series in Okaloosa is 4,493, according to FDOH data.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa is 17,486.

The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 298, two more deaths since the previous report.

Statewide, 6,624 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,777,983. The total number of Florida residents who have died from COVID-19 in the state is 27,696.

The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 642, three more since the previous day. Currently, there are 51 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

Local update on statewide pre-registration for COVID-19 vaccination

According to the FDOH, since the previous report there were 499 test results returned in Okaloosa with 43 positives. The daily positivity rate is 8.62 percent.

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 18.54 percent for the week ending Feb. 6, down from 19.87 percent the previous week.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 8.1 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.

The vaccination data and city-by-city COVID-19 data will be updated once it is released by the FDOH.
