NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health on Friday reported 174 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There are 36 new cases in Niceville and Valparaiso.
The FDOH reports 535 vaccinations were administered in Okaloosa County the previous day. The cumulative number of people vaccinated in Okaloosa is 16,965. The number of people who have completed the vaccination series in Okaloosa is 3,434, according to FDOH data.
The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa is 17,364.
The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 296, four more deaths since the previous day.
Statewide, 11,543 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,763,873. The total number of Florida residents who have died from COVID-19 in the state is 27,457.
The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 637, one more since the previous day. Currently, there are 55 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report there were 1,312 test results returned in Okaloosa with 172 positives. The daily positivity rate is 13.11 percent.
As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.
According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 19.87 percent for the week ending January 30, down from 19.96 percent the previous week.
Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 9.0 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
