February 3 COVID-19, vaccination report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health on Wednesday reported 164 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There are 29 new cases in Niceville and Valparaiso.

The FDOH reports 553 vaccinations were administered in Okaloosa County the previous day. The cumulative number of people vaccinated in Okaloosa is 16,277, and 2,538 people have completed the vaccination series, according to FDOH data.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa is 17,050.

The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 288, two more deaths since the previous day.

Statewide, 6,979 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,744,619. The total number of Florida residents who have died from COVID-19 in the state is 27,019.

The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 631, six since the previous day. Currently, there are 56 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 763 test results returned in Okaloosa with 165 positives. The daily positivity rate is 21.63 percent.

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 19.87 percent for the week ending January 30, down from 19.96 percent the previous week.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 9.0 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
