February 2 COVID-19, vaccination report for Okaloosa, Niceville

NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health on Tuesday reported 156 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. There are 35 new cases in Niceville and Valparaiso.

The FDOH reports 387 vaccinations were administered in Okaloosa County the previous day. The cumulative number of people vaccinated in Okaloosa is 16,110, and 2,007 people have completed the vaccination series, according to FDOH data.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa is 16,886.

The FDOH reports the total number of people killed by COVID-19 in Okaloosa is 286, no change since the previous day.

Statewide, 10,533 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,737,640. The total number of Florida residents who have died from COVID-19 in the state is 26,822.

The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa is 625, two since the previous day. Currently, there are 55 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 905 test results returned in Okaloosa with 158 positives. The daily positivity rate is 17.46 percent.

As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.

According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 19.87 percent for the week ending January 30, down from 19.96 percent the previous week.

Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 9.1 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
