Here is this week’s traffic advisory for Walton County:

— U.S. 98 Resurfacing from east of U.S. 331 to Peach Creek
Drivers may encounter intermittent nighttime east and westbound lane closures from Sunday, Dec. 3 through Thursday, Dec. 7, from 4 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving operations.

When constructing sound walls on roadway improvement projects, contractors must place and set concrete support pillars before adding flat sound wall panels between each pillar. Once the pillars are set into the ground, crews pour concrete around the structure to create a secure base. To allow the concrete to cure properly and keep the pillars upright, the contractor will place iron braces around the pillars to lock them down until the sound wall panels are ready to be installed. Shown here is a before-and-after shot of the contractor applying these iron braces to newly placed sound wall structures on the U.S. 98 widening project from Bayshore Road to Portside Drive in Walton County. — U.S. 98 Pedestrian Underpass at Inlet Beach
The week of Sunday, Dec. 3 drivers may encounter intermittent U.S. 98 east and westbound lane closures near the C.R. 30A intersection between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. for paving and construction activities.

— U.S. 331 Turn Lane Operations at County Road 282 (Segrest Road)
Drivers will encounter intermittent daytime lane closures Monday, Dec. 4 through Friday, Dec. 8 from turn lane operations.

All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
