FDOT traffic advisory for Okaloosa and Walton Counties

Construction crews are working to mill and resurface I-10 from west of the Yellow River to Mile Marker 52 and from Mile Marker 54 to east of the Shoal River at Mile Marker 60. OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla.—Drivers in Okaloosa and Walton counties may encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads this week as crews perform construction and maintenance activities, according to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). Here is this week’s traffic advisory.

Okaloosa County Traffic Advisory:

— Brooks Bridge, Replacement Project
Drivers may encounter the following traffic disruptions, Sunday, June 2 through Thursday, June 6, between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for utility work and construction activities:

  • U.S. 98, alternating intermittent lane closures between Ferry Road and Pier Road
  • Santa Rosa Boulevard, alternating lane closures from east of Amberjack Drive to Ross Marler Park

— Mid-Bay Bridge, Rehabilitation Project
Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures on the Mid-Bay Bridge from Sunday, June 2, through Thursday, June 6, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. for construction activities.

— State Road 85, Improvements from State Road 123 to Hospital Drive
Drivers may encounter intermittent State Road 85 lane closures between I-10 and Hospital Drive from Sunday, June 2, through Thursday, June 6, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving operations.

— Mary Esther Boulevard, Resurfacing from U.S. 98 to Beal Parkway
Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures on Mary Esther Boulevard for concrete work and milling and paving operations at the following locations and times:

  • Sunday, June 2, through Thursday, June 6, from U.S. 98 to Hollywood Boulevard, between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
  • Sunday, June 2, through Saturday, June 8, from Hollywood Boulevard to Beal Parkway, between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

— State Road 85, Resurfacing from north of Commerce Drive to Bill Lundy Road
Drivers may encounter intermittent S.R. 85 single-lane closures for crews to install rumble strips and place thermoplastic striping between:

  • Airport Road and Butler Road, Monday, June 3, through Friday, June 7, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Commerce Drive and Butler Road, Sunday, June 2, through Thursday, June 6, from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
  • Butler Road and Bill Lundy Road, Sunday, June 2, through Saturday, June 8, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

— Interstate 10 (I-10), Resurfacing from west of Yellow River to east of Shoal River
Drivers will encounter alternating lane closures between mile markers 56 and 60 from 6 p.m. Sunday, June 2, through 6 a.m. Friday, June 7. Construction crews will be milling and paving the roadway.

— U.S. 98, Resurfacing from Josie Road to Florida Place Southeast
Drivers may encounter intermittent U.S. 98 lane closures between Josie Road in Mary Esther and Florida Place Southeast in Fort Walton Beach from Sunday, June 2, through Thursday, June 6, between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for concrete work.

Walton County Traffic Advisory:

— U.S. 98, Widening from Mack Bayou Road to County Road 30A
Drivers may encounter intermittent, alternating lane closures, Sunday, June 2 through Thursday, June 6, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for signalization work and for crews to place thermoplastic striping at the following locations:

  • U.S. 98 between Mack Bayou Road and County Road 30A
  • Mack Bayou Road between U.S. 98 and Mack Bayou Loop

All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
