FDOT: Okaloosa, Walton road projects to cause lane closures

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla.—Drivers in Okaloosa and Walton counties may encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads this week as crews perform construction and maintenance activities, according to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).

Okaloosa County:

— State Road 285 Resurfacing from State Road 293 to the Walton County Line
Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures beginning Sunday, Feb. 9, lasting through March from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. for milling and paving operations.

— Brooks Bridge Replacement Project
Drivers may encounter intermittent U.S. 98 lane closures from Santa Rosa Boulevard to Pier Road, Monday, Feb. 10 through Friday, Feb. 14, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for utility contractors to install power poles. Additionally, drivers may encounter the following traffic disruptions, Sunday, Feb. 9 through Thursday, Feb. 13, between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for utility work and construction activities:

  • U.S. 98 alternating lane closures between Ferry Road and Pier Road.
  • Santa Rosa Boulevard alternating lane closures from east of Amberjack Drive to Ross Marler Park.

— Mid-Bay Bridge Rehabilitation Project
Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures on the Mid-Bay Bridge from Sunday, Feb. 9, through Thursday, Feb. 13, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. for construction activities.

— U.S. 98 Resurfacing from Josie Road to Florida Place Southeast
Drivers may encounter intermittent U.S. 98 lane closures between Josie Road in Mary Esther and Florida Place Southeast in Fort Walton Beach, Sunday, Feb. 9 through Thursday, Feb. 13, between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for manhole adjustments.

— Mary Esther Boulevard Resurfacing from U.S. 98 to Beal Parkway
Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures on Mary Esther Boulevard for signalization work at the following locations and times:

  • Sunday, Feb. 9 through Thursday, Feb. 13, from U.S. 98 to Hollywood Boulevard, between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.
  • Sunday, Feb. 9 through Saturday, Feb. 15, from Hollywood Boulevard to Beal Parkway, between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m.

— State Road 85 and State Road 189 Intersection Improvements
Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures Sunday, Feb. 9, through Thursday, Feb. 13, between 6:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for signalization work at the following locations:

  • State Road 85 at Erwin Fleet Road intersection
  • Beal Parkway at Lewis Street intersection
  • Beal Parkway at Pelham Road intersection

— State Road 123 Routine Bridge Inspection near State Road 85
Motorists may encounter intermittent north and southbound lane closures south of State Road 85 on Monday, Feb. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for routine bridge inspection.

Walton County:

— U.S. 331 Resurfacing Project from south of I-10 to U.S. 90
Drivers will encounter intermittent U.S. 331 lane closures from south of I-10 to U.S. 90 on Wednesday, Feb. 12, and Thursday, Feb. 13, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for milling operations.

All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
