OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — Eglin Air Force Base has announced munitions testing in the Gulf of America from June 1 through June 6, requiring vessels to remain clear of a designated hazard zone south of Destin.
According to Eglin Air Force Base, testing will take place daily from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The active hazard zone begins approximately 10 nautical miles south of the Destin East Pass and extends to 16 nautical miles offshore. The area also stretches northwest toward Santa Rosa Island.
All vessels are required to remain clear of the hazard zone while testing is underway, Eglin said.
Mariners can monitor advisories and local notices to mariners on VHF Channel 16 and HF upper sideband 2182 kHz. Broadcasts will be provided by the Eglin Joint Test and Training Operations Control Center.
