EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. — With Hurricane Delta expected to enter the Gulf of Mexico early Wednesday, Eglin Air Force Base is urging personnel to be prepared and monitor local weather forecasts, the National Hurricane Center updates, the Eglin website and Facebook page.

The storm is expected to form into a Category 2 hurricane, making landfall late Friday morning around southeast Louisiana.  The expected impacts to Eglin and the ranges are chances of 35-knot sustained winds with gusts into the low 40s Thursday evening into Friday morning.
