EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. — Brig. Gen. Scott Cain, the 96th Test Wing commander, directed Health Protection Condition Bravo+ effective Feb. 24.

The shift is due to the decreasing rate of new COVID-19 cases on the installation and surrounding community.

“Although COVID-19 conditions are improving overall, our continued vigilance in combatting the spread of this virus is essential,” said Cain.

Many protection measures will still be in effect.

Mission Essential tasks continue. Personnel will return to the workplace only if they cannot support the mission through telework. Maximum use of telework to reduce the footprint on EAFB is encouraged.

Shift schedules for mission essential personnel is also highly encouraged to preserve mission capability in the event a work center is compromised by a positive case of COVID-19.

High-risk personnel will remain on telework or weather safety leave status, unless essential to the mission of their unit.  Supervisors will ensure personnel return to a safe work environment and health protection measures are optimized.

Official ceremonies and gatherings greater than 10, but less than 50 individuals require unit commander first colonel or civilian equivalent approval.

Those not identified as mission essential, not residing in base housing, or not conducting official business will not be allowed to enter the base. Unit commanders or equivalent designees may grant exceptions for personnel by completing a Base Access Approval Request Memorandum and submitting it to the 96th Security Forces Squadron, Pass and ID at 96sfs.S5B.pass&[email protected].

Outdoor recreation on Eglin properties may continue, so long as measures described below are observed. Installation personnel will continue to practice all public health risk mitigation measures currently in place:

  1. Practice strict hygiene.
    b. Regular cleaning of workplace common areas.
    c. Official ceremonies and gatherings greater than 10, but less than 50 individuals require unit commander first colonel or civilian equivalent approval.
    d. Wear masks. The Air Force memorandum reinforces all individuals on military installations performing official duties on behalf of DOD from any location other than home, including outdoor shared spaces, will wear masks in accordance with current CDC guidelines.
    e. Maintain a minimum physical distance of six feet between people.
    f. Stay at home when experiencing new symptoms or illness, notify your supervision and contact primary care manager.
