WALTON COUNTY, Fla. – The U.S. 98 resurfacing project in Walton County is finished.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has announced that it has completed its $10.5 million project to mill and resurface a 6.6-mile segment of U.S. 98, from east of Village Road to U.S. 331 in Walton County.
The project began in April 2022, focusing on improving traffic flow and increasing safety.
Additional improvements included:
- Constructing a westbound right-turn lane at Don Bishop Road
- Reconstructing existing right-turn lanes to provide (keyhole) bicycle lanes
- Sidewalk improvements to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards
- Lighting enhancements at the intersection of County Road 393 and U.S. 331
- Installing a traffic signal at the U.S. 98/Sandestin Lane intersection
- Upgrading signal and pedestrian features at other signalized intersections.
- Drainage enhancements.
