NICEVILLE, Fla. — Naomi Riches, who exemplifies leadership, dedication, and excellence in both academics and extracurricular activities at Rocky Bayou Christian School (RBCS) in Niceville, is the first Student of the Month honoree for December in the Student and Teacher of the Month awards series.
The series highlights exceptional teachers and students who make a positive impact at their schools and in our community. It is made possible by Crumbl Cookies in Niceville and other generous local businesses.
Naomi, a senior at RBCS, has been a dedicated member of the RBCS community since the age of four. She currently holds the position of Head Prefect of the student body, Captain of Varsity Girls Soccer, and is also a member of the award-winning RBCS Chamber Choir.
Beyond her academic achievements, Naomi is actively involved in worship at Beachside Community Church and Rocky Bayou Baptist Church. Her commitment to faith and service extends to her role as a small group ministry participant, reflecting her genuine care for others.
Naomi’s parents, James and Holly Riches, and her four siblings share in Naomi’s joy and accomplishments. In her free time, she enjoys the beautiful beaches of the area and indulges in her love for Greek food with friends.
The path ahead for Naomi includes pursuing higher education at Liberty University, where she plans to major in Missions and Ministry. Her favorite Bible verse, Philippians 1:9-11, reflects her commitment to love, knowledge, discernment, and a life filled with righteousness through Jesus Christ.
The accolades for Naomi are not only from her peers but also from the dedicated educators who have witnessed her growth. Lisa Eaves, Student Life Director, commends Naomi for her humility and grace in leadership. Rev. Kevin Walsh, Academy Bible Teacher, and Dr. Michael Mosley, Superintendent, highlight her selflessness, kindness, and inclusivity.
“Naomi is a humble leader who sets the needs of others above her own. She is quiet and gracious, with an iron will (for good!)” said Mr. Mosley.
“Naomi is an amazing young lady who loves her school, and the way she is able to make every student feel loved and important is amazing,” said Rev. Walsh.
“We have four international students in my class and she made them feel welcomed and even went as far as to ask them to teach her some saying in their native tongue so she could converse with them. She is the epitome of what a Rocky Bayou student should strive to achieve: hardworking, honest, and kind.”
Academy Assistant Principal Crystal Wilson praises Naomi’s determination and humility, while Mrs. Janet Tullos, Director of Fine Arts and Choral Activities, recognizes her as a positive force in the chamber choir, emphasizing her godly character.
“Naomi is a godly young lady who leads with humility and grace,” said Ms. Eaves.
“She loves well and serves faithfully. It has been such a joy to work beside her this year as she has led the Academy as the SGA Head Prefect.”
Julie Mosley, Senior Advisor, applauds Naomi’s leadership as the Head Prefect, overseeing academics, athletics, and student life with a businesslike demeanor and a constant smile.
Niceville.com is proud to feature Naomi as the Student of the Month, and we extend our gratitude to local business partners for their support in recognizing and celebrating exceptional individuals in our community.
