NICEVILLE, Fla — The Florida Department of Health Saturday reported 109 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Okaloosa County. In Niceville and Valparaiso, there are 18 new cases.
The city data was released late Sunday night.
The cumulative number of cases in Okaloosa on December 5 was 9,714.
The FDOH reports the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Okaloosa County on Dec. 5 was 167, an increase of seven.
Statewide, 10,431 new cases were reported by the FDOH. The current cumulative total is 1,049,638 cases.
The cumulative number of hospitalizations in Okaloosa on Dec. 5 totaled 445, an increase of two. Currently, there are 53 COVID-19 patients in Okaloosa County hospitals.

According to the FDOH, since the previous report, there were 746 test results returned in Okaloosa with 108 positives. The daily positivity rate is 14.48 percent, down from 18.45 percent the previous day.
As a rule of thumb, the threshold for the percent positive being “too high” is five percent according to the Centers for Disease Control.
According to the FDOH, Okaloosa’s weekly positivity rate is 15.3 percent for the week ending Nov. 28, down from 16.39 percent the previous week,
Florida’s current weekly positivity rate is 8.8 percent (7-day moving average) according to Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center data.
