NICEVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation has announced it will begin work in February to mill and resurface a 2.62-mile segment of State Road 20 (John Sims Parkway) from Edge Avenue to west of the Rocky Bayou Bridge in Niceville.

The $6.2 million project is anticipated to be completed in early 2023, according to the DOT.

The road work will consist of:

  • Milling and resurfacing all travel lanes, turn lanes, and medians.
  • Constructing a grassed median west of Palm Boulevard.
  • Widening the roadway at key locations to extend or shift existing turn lanes to improve traffic flow.
  • Constructing a new sidewalk on the north side of S.R. 20 from the Oak Creek Shopping Center to Rocky Bayou Drive.
