NICEVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation has announced it will begin work in February to mill and resurface a 2.62-mile segment of State Road 20 (John Sims Parkway) from Edge Avenue to west of the Rocky Bayou Bridge in Niceville.
The $6.2 million project is anticipated to be completed in early 2023, according to the DOT.
The road work will consist of:
- Milling and resurfacing all travel lanes, turn lanes, and medians.
- Constructing a grassed median west of Palm Boulevard.
- Widening the roadway at key locations to extend or shift existing turn lanes to improve traffic flow.
- Constructing a new sidewalk on the north side of S.R. 20 from the Oak Creek Shopping Center to Rocky Bayou Drive.

Lane closures will be limited to the 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. timeframe Sundays through Thursdays and will not be permitted weekends, during Niceville High School home football games, or other special school events.
