OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — Drivers in Okaloosa and Walton counties will encounter construction-related traffic impacts this week as work continues on several major transportation projects, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

OKALOOSA COUNTY

Brooks Bridge Replacement Project
Drivers may encounter intermittent traffic impacts on U.S. 98, from Ferry Road to Pier Road, and on Santa Rosa Boulevard, from east of Amberjack Drive to Ross Marler Park, Sunday, June 7, through Thursday, June 11, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for construction activities.

State Road 85 Resurfacing Project — U.S. 98 to Richbourg Avenue
Drivers will encounter construction-related impacts Sunday, June 7, through Thursday, June 11, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

  • Crews will install drainage structures on State Road 85 between Yacht Club Drive NE and the bridge at Cinco Bayou. As part of this work, the entrance to Laguna Landing Condominiums will be temporarily closed. Residents will access State Road 85 via Yacht Club Drive NE
  • Pedestrians may encounter intermittent sidewalk closures between U.S. 98 and Richbourg Avenue while crews install new pedestrian signals. Paving operations will also take place throughout the project corridor

U.S. 98 Resurfacing — Santa Rosa County Line to west of Josie Road
Utility relocation, median improvements, and paving operations will continue throughout the project area.

  • Motorists should expect daytime shoulder closures Monday, June 8, through Friday, June 12, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and nighttime construction activity Sunday, June 7, through Thursday, June 11, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

State Road 293 (Danny Wuerffel Way) Resurfacing — U.S. 98 to Mid-Bay Bridge
Milling and paving operations will continue Sunday, June 7, through Thursday, June 11, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. along U.S. 98 from Paraiso Boulevard to Regions Way and on Danny Wuerffel Way between U.S. 98 and the Mid-Bay Bridge.

Interstate 10 Resurfacing — Shoal River Bridge to State Road 285
Paving operations will continue Sunday, June 7, through Thursday, June 11, between mile markers 64 and 67. Work is scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 8 a.m. nightly.

WALTON COUNTY

Western Lake Bridge Replacement Project
Drivers may encounter temporary traffic stoppages on County Road 30A near Western Lake Bridge Sunday, June 7, through Saturday, June 13, from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. for pile driving and other construction activities.

  • Delays are expected to last less than 15 minutes. Flaggers will direct vehicles and pedestrians through the work zone as needed.

All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled due to inclement weather. FDOT reminds motorists to use caution when traveling through work zones and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
