TAMPA, Fla.—A Bradenton man has been arrested and charged with extortion by interstate communication and interstate communication of a threat to injure, according to U.S. Attorney Roger B. Handberg.
Jeffrey John Borho, 38, was arrested on July 19, 2024, and has been detained pending trial.
Court documents reveal that Mr Borho was terminated from his job on July 1, 2024. In the days following his dismissal, Borho allegedly sent threatening phone calls and messages to his former employer, demanding $10,000, $20,000, and then $100,000.
Mr Borho is accused of threatening to kill his former employer and the employer’s wife if his demands were not met. He is also said to have sent videos in which he made statements such as, “I’ll kill you easily” and “I don’t sue people; I kill people. And I get away with it every f***ing time. Praise God, you’re on my time now.”
It is important to note that a complaint is merely a formal charge, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating the case, which Assistant U.S. Attorney Ross Roberts will prosecute.
