BAY COUNTY, Fla. – Motorists will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Bay and Jackson counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
Bay County:
State Road (S.R.) 390 Widening from Jenks Avenue to S.R. 77
Kentucky Avenue remains closed at the S.R. 390 intersection. Drivers may use either West 18th Street or Carolina Avenue for access to S.R. 390. S.R. 77 pedestrian traffic is shifted to the east side of the roadway near the S.R. 390 intersection. The sidewalk on the west side of S.R. 77 is closed from the S.R. 390 intersection to 17th Street. Pedestrians may cross to the sidewalk on the east side of S.R. 77 at either the S.R. 390 or 17th Street intersection.
U.S. 98 (Beach Drive) Resurfacing from 15th Street to West of Harrison Avenue
Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures on Beach Drive from Frankford Avenue to Balboa Avenue from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday, April 25 to Friday, April 29 for curb removal and manhole adjustments. Flaggers and traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work area.
U.S. 98/Tyndall Air Force Base Flyover
U.S. 98 westbound traffic, from Louisiana Avenue to Tyndall Drive-Airey Avenue, is shifted slightly to the north so work may continue to elevate the travel lanes above the two intersections. No oversized permit loads are permitted while this lane shift is in place.
Jackson County:
U.S. 231 Resurfacing from Bay County Line to Pike Pond Road
Motorists will encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, April 25 through Friday, April 29 for paving operations.
U.S. 231 New Traffic Signal at I-10 Interchange and Dilmore Road
The new traffic signal is fully activated with standard green, red, and yellow lights.
All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
