VALPARAISO, Fla. — A health advisory for Boggy Bayou has been lifted following improved water quality, according to the Florida Department of Health in Okaloosa County (DOH-Okaloosa).
DOH-Okaloosa said recent testing of the bayou’s waters showed bacterial levels had dropped below the threshold requiring an advisory. The warning had been issued previously due to elevated bacteria, which can sometimes be linked to wastewater overflows or stormwater runoff.
Residents and visitors with questions about health risks associated with wastewater exposure are encouraged to contact the DOH-Okaloosa at (850) 833-9247 or visit Okaloosa.FloridaHealth.gov for more information.
The Florida Department of Health is nationally accredited by the Public Health Accreditation Board and is responsible for protecting and promoting public health through collaborative efforts among state, county, and local agencies.
