NICEVILLE, Fla. — Mattie Kelly Arts Center Galleries at Northwest Florida State College is among the museums and galleries across the state taking part in the 2021 “March of Museums.”

The fifth annual March of Museums celebrates the variety and versatility of museums in Florida and the important services those museums provide to their communities. The initiative includes partner museums and cultural institutions throughout Florida that showcase the vast and diverse array of museums that populate the Sunshine State.

The 2021 celebration focuses on celebrating the ingenuity and creativity of museums in Florida.

“During the past year, museums around the state have found new and innovative ways to handle closures, reduced visitation and other challenges,” said Florida Secretary of State Laurel M. Lee.

“We hope March of Museums offers museums an additional avenue to reach not only their own patrons, but people far outside their own walls and communities.  Using technology, virtual content and more, programs and resources that were once available only to locals or visitors to the area can now be accessed by people statewide and beyond.”

The department is hosting MarchofMuseums.com, which offers a listing and map of museums by region, including Mattie Kelly Arts Center Galleries at Northwest Florida State College and other statewide partner museums.

The website also highlights the mission, collections, and/or events of each institution during the month of March. The department encourages visitors and Floridians to take advantage of March of Museums initiative to explore one of their favorite museums, or to discover a new museum, and to share their pictures on social media using #MarchOfMuseums.

“March of Museums is an opportunity to discover art and museums right in our local community,” said NWFSC’s Mattie Kelly Arts Center Director J. Wren Supak.
