FLORIDA— Attorney General Ashley Moody has charged two individuals with felony organized retail theft for allegedly stealing from multiple stores in four Florida counties.

According to Ms Moody, her Office of Statewide Prosecution is charging the pair following an investigation by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO).

Jimmy Carter Lamar, of West Palm Beach, and Donkeria Euniece Burgess, of Belle Glade, are accused of stealing dozens of items, including Stanley cups, Bogg Bags, fragrances, and other products, valued at up to $20,000.

The alleged thefts reportedly occurred at numerous stores, including Dicks Sporting Goods, Academy Sports + Outdoors, Ulta Beauty, CVS, and Walmart, crossing multiple judicial circuits, Moody said. The thefts are said to have occurred over 30 days.

Organized retail theft carries a real cost to businesses, resulting in even higher prices for consumers,” said Ms Moody.

“Thanks to our law enforcement partners working with our statewide prosecutors, these thieves face felony charges.”

According to the investigation, Mr Lamar and Ms Burgess stole items, including Stanley cups, Bogg Bags, high-end fragrances, cosmetics, and household items, by concealing them and quickly leaving the store without paying.

From February to March, the duo allegedly stole $15,000 to $20,000 in merchandise from retailers in Brevard, Broward, Orange, and Palm Beach counties.

Burgess allegedly committed the crimes while serving probation for a previous aggravated child abuse charge. PBSO separately arrested Lamar on charges for fleeing and eluding authorities in March. Ms Burgess remains at large.

Both individuals are charged with second-degree felony organized retail theft.

Attorney General Moody’s OSP will prosecute the case.
