Yes, that was a Presidential plane we saw over Niceville this week! The Boeing 747 aircraft, which circled the city before landing at Eglin Air Force Base, is one of two VC-25As assigned to the Presidential Airlift Group.
The VC-25A is commonly known as “Air Force One,” although that radio call sign is reserved exclusively when the President of the US is aboard any US Air Force aircraft.
The aircraft that landed at Eglin was completing a maintenance cycle and is undergoing an operational testing regimen before being certified to return to Presidential Service.
