OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — Okaloosa County voters elected two incumbent School Board members to four-year terms Tuesday, reelecting Linda Evanchyk to the District 3 seat and electing Brett Hinely to the District 5 seat.
According to unofficial election results posted online by the Okaloosa County Supervisor of Elections Office, Ms Evanchyk received 15,228 votes, or 51.48 percent, in the District 3 race.
Challenger Mitch Reed received 14,354 votes, or 48.52 percent.
Evanchyk has served on the Okaloosa County School Board since 2018.
In District 5, Mr Hinely received 17,517 votes, or 59.46 percent. Cynthia West received 11,944 votes, or 40.54 percent.
Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Hinely to the School Board in 2024. Tuesday’s election gives the Niceville resident and business owner his first elected term on the board.
The School Board races are nonpartisan and appeared on the August 18 state primary election ballot. Both winners received more than 50 percent of the vote.
The results remain unofficial until certified. Primary turnout was 21.87 percent.
