OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — Drivers traveling state roads in Okaloosa and Walton counties should expect lane closures, traffic stoppages, and other construction-related delays this week as the Florida Department of Transportation continues multiple road and bridge projects.
OKALOOSA COUNTY
Brooks Bridge Replacement Project — U.S. 98 and Santa Rosa Boulevard
Drivers may encounter intermittent lane closures on U.S. 98 from Ferry Road to Pier Road and on Santa Rosa Boulevard from east of Amberjack Drive to Ross Marler Park from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Sunday, June 14, through Thursday, June 18, for construction activities.
State Road 85 Resurfacing Project — U.S. 98 to Richbourg Avenue
Drivers will encounter intermittent northbound outside lane closures on State Road 85 between Yacht Club Drive NE and the bridge at Cinco Bayou from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday, June 14, through Thursday, June 18, while crews install drainage structures. The entrance to Laguna Landing Condominiums will be temporarily closed during this work, with residents directed to access State Road 85 via Yacht Club Drive NE.
Pedestrians may encounter intermittent sidewalk closures between U.S. 98 and Richbourg Avenue while crews install new pedestrian signals. Intermittent and alternating lane closures are also planned between U.S. 98 and Richbourg Avenue for paving operations.
U.S. 98 Resurfacing — Santa Rosa County Line to west of Josie Road
Motorists should expect daytime shoulder closures throughout the project area from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, June 15, through Friday, June 19, as crews continue utility relocation and median improvement work.
State Road 293 (Danny Wuerffel Way) Resurfacing — U.S. 98 to Mid-Bay Bridge
Drivers will encounter intermittent lane closures on U.S. 98 from Paraiso Boulevard to Regions Way and on State Road 293 from U.S. 98 to the Mid-Bay Bridge between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., Sunday, June 14, through Thursday, June 18, for milling and paving operations.
Interstate 10 Resurfacing — east of Shoal River Bridge to west of State Road 285
Drivers should expect nighttime alternating lane closures in both eastbound and westbound lanes between mile markers 64 and 67 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 a.m., Sunday, June 14, through Thursday, June 18, for paving operations.
WALTON COUNTY
Western Lake Bridge Replacement Project — County Road 30A
Drivers may encounter temporary traffic stoppages on County Road 30A near Western Lake Bridge from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, June 14, through Saturday, June 20, for pile-driving operations and other construction activities. Delays are expected to last less than 15 minutes, and flaggers will direct vehicles and pedestrians through the work zone.
All activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled because of inclement weather. The Florida Department of Transportation reminds motorists to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through work zones and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
