NICEVILLE, Fla. — The City of Niceville is accepting applications through April 30 for its summer internship program, which offers students and recent graduates hands-on experience in local government.
The part-time, unpaid program will take place in June and July and is open to high school seniors, college students, and recent graduates.
According to the City of Niceville, interns will be placed in departments based on interest and availability. Opportunities include public works, communications and media, parks and recreation, finance, planning and zoning, public safety, human resources, and environmental services.
Participants are expected to support projects and initiatives that impact the city’s daily operations and long-term planning, the city said.
The program also provides direct exposure to department leaders and elected officials, giving interns a closer look at how local government operates.
In addition to hands-on experience, the City of Niceville said the internship includes a structured professional development track.
This includes resume writing and revision workshops, interview preparation, mock panel interviews, one-on-one coaching, and a real-world breakdown of paychecks and benefits, including taxes, insurance, and retirement.
The city said the program is designed for individuals interested in public service and those looking to build professional skills while exploring potential career paths in government.
Interested applicants are asked to send an interest letter to hr@nicevillefl.gov.
Key dates include interviews in May, with the internship running from June through July, according to the City of Niceville.
The City of Niceville said the program offers participants an opportunity to serve their community while gaining practical experience and preparing for future academic and career success.
