OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has begun a project to resurface a three-mile stretch of State Road 293 from the Mid-Bay Bridge to Range Road in Okaloosa County.

According to the FDOT, the project will improve multiple sections of the corridor, including travel lanes, ramps, auxiliary lanes, median crossovers, and paved shoulders.

Additional upgrades include installing permanent erosion control, adding new guardrails, and upgrading signage along the route.

The FDOT said the project will also add intelligent transportation system cameras at the intersections of Lakeshore Drive, State Road 20, and Range Road near the toll plaza.

Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times through the toll plaza, and access to driveways and business entrances will remain open throughout the project, according to the FDOT.

Construction is scheduled for completion in mid-2026, though the FDOT noted that work may be delayed or rescheduled due to weather.
