College donates lifesaving trauma kits to Niceville police

NICEVILLE, Fla. — The Niceville Police Department has received a donation of “Stop the Bleed” kits for its officers, providing critical tools to control severe bleeding during emergencies until medical personnel arrive.

The kits were donated by Gregory Kaplan and Elaine Young of Braxton College, according to the Niceville Police Department. Braxton College, whose main campus is located in Fort Myers, provides specialized training in emergency medical services, including programs for emergency medical technicians and paramedics. .

Stop the Bleed kits typically include a tourniquet, pressure bandage, gauze, gloves, and other supplies officers can use to control severe bleeding and stabilize a victim.

According to the department, having the equipment readily available can make the difference between life and death during traumatic situations.

“These lifesaving kits provide officers with critical tools to control severe bleeding during emergencies, allowing them to provide immediate care until medical personnel arrive,” the Niceville Police Department said.

The Niceville Police Department expressed appreciation for the donation and the partnership behind it.

“Partnerships like this show the power of our community coming together to support public safety,” the Niceville Police Department said.
