Jake Revette, an eighth-grade student at Bruner Middle School, was selected as one of three statewide winners in Math Nation’s Test Yourself contest, which ran through November and December. Jake earned a perfect score of 10 out of 10 on his Algebra 1 Unit 6 Test Yourself assessment.

Approximately 41,000 students across Florida participated in the contest. Students who scored six out of 10 or higher were entered into a random drawing, with three winners selected statewide, including Jake in Okaloosa County.

As part of the recognition, Jake’s class in Dr Norma Eliason’s classroom received a fully catered taco party provided by Math Nation.

Principal Heather Graham-Williams said the recognition reflects both individual effort and classwide enthusiasm.

“Jake’s dedication and effort are inspiring, and we are thrilled to celebrate not only his achievement but also the excitement and energy it brings to the entire class,” said Ms Graham-Williams.

“Recognition like this helps foster a love of learning and shows our students that hard work pays off.”

Superintendent Marcus Chambers also praised the accomplishment.

“Jake’s achievement is a great example of what happens when students apply themselves and embrace learning with enthusiasm,” said Mr Chambers.

“We’re incredibly proud of him and the entire Bruner Middle School community for fostering a culture where academic success is celebrated.”

Kimberly Landtroop of Math Nation said the program encourages students to engage with math concepts and build confidence.

More from Niceville

“The Test Yourself contest motivates students by connecting meaningful academic effort with a fun incentive. Students engage with formative assessments, reflect on their learning, and build confidence through scaffolded video solutions and multiple opportunities to retry. Celebrations like a taco party reinforce a positive culture around math learning and reward persistence and growth.”
