NICEVILLE, Fla. — More than 5,000 pounds of food were distributed to local families Saturday morning during a community food distribution event held at the Niceville Senior Center, organizers said.

According to the Niceville Exchange Club, the event served more than 168 households and was made possible through a partnership involving multiple local and regional organizations.

Volunteers from the Niceville Exchange Club assisted with distributing food, along with support from Sharing & Caring of Niceville, Okaloosa County’s Community Emergency Response Team, and additional community volunteers.

The Niceville Exchange Club said the event would not have been possible without grant funding provided by United Way Emerald Coast and food supplied through its partnership with Feeding the Gulf Coast.

The City of Niceville collaborated by making the Niceville Senior Center available as the distribution site.

Organizers said the event allowed families to receive food assistance at a time when many continue to face rising grocery costs and food insecurity.

“The response from the community was overwhelming,” the Exchange Club said, noting that volunteers were moved by the gratitude shown by neighbors receiving assistance.

More from Niceville

The Niceville Exchange Club expressed appreciation to everyone who helped make the event possible and said similar efforts remain an important part of supporting local families in need.
