PAXTON, Fla. — A traffic stop in Paxton on Saturday led to a vehicle and foot chase ending with the arrest of an Alabama man, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) announced.
WCSO said a deputy conducted the stop on a vehicle driving north on U.S. 331 for a moving violation. The driver fled, turning onto State Line Road, where the deputy continued to follow.
According to WCSO, the suspect’s vehicle then came to an abrupt stop, causing the deputy to rear-end it.
The driver was identified as Drew Thames, 31, of Florala, Alabama. Mr Thames attempted to run but was taken into custody shortly afterward.
Covington County, Alabama, officials confirmed Thames has multiple active felony warrants.
WCSO said he is also facing local charges in Walton County, including possession of narcotics, drug paraphernalia, fleeing and eluding, and felony battery.
