SANTA ROSA BEACH, Fla. — A Santa Rosa Beach man is facing multiple charges after a red Lamborghini was said to have fled from a Walton County Sheriff’s Office deputy during a reported street-racing incident on Saturday, November 15, according to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO).

The WCSO said the incident began just after 2 p.m. when a deputy driving north on County Highway 395 saw a red Lamborghini, a white Corvette, and a silver Corvette accelerate rapidly from a traffic light at U.S. Highway 98. According to the WCSO, both Corvettes pulled over when the deputy attempted a traffic stop.

The Lamborghini reportedly accelerated northbound at more than 110 miles per hour before turning into the Jewel Apartment Complex off Malachite Way, the WCSO said.

Deputies found the vehicle moments later, unoccupied and parked in a handicap space near the complex’s mailbox area. The WCSO said a tow truck was called after the driver had left the scene on foot.

According to the WCSO, further investigation showed the Lamborghini belongs to Alex Lamberson, 28, of Santa Rosa Beach. Apartment management reportedly reviewed surveillance video showing a white male matching Mr Lamberson’s description leaving the vehicle and running through the mailbox area.

Witnesses familiar with Mr Lamberson and the vehicle told deputies they saw him leave the scene on foot. According to the WCSO, Mr Lamberson nearly struck an employee of the apartment complex before abandoning the car.

The WCSO said Mr Lamberson faces charges of reckless driving, excessive speed, street racing, fleeing and eluding, and obstruction.

Deputies later located the white Corvette, and the driver was arrested for street racing and booked into the Walton County Jail, according to the WCSO. The agency said the vehicle was towed and the driver received a $1,000 bond before being released Saturday evening.

Both the Lamborghini and the white Corvette are on a 30-day hold, the WCSO said.

The WCSO announced at 7:15 p.m. that Mr Lamberson had turned himself in.
