Nighttime construction impacts travel across Okaloosa and Walton

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has announced upcoming lane closures and traffic impacts across Okaloosa and Walton counties as crews continue scheduled construction and maintenance work during the week of November 16.

OKALOOSA COUNTY

— Brooks Bridge Replacement Project

  • Santa Rosa Boulevard from U.S. 98 to Ross Marler Park
  • U.S. 98 from Ferry Road to Pier Road.
  • Sunday, Nov. 16 through Thursday, Nov. 20, from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
  • Intermittent lane closures for construction activities. Signage and traffic flaggers will be in place.

— Interstate 10 New Interchange at P.J. Adams Parkway

  • I-10 westbound between mile markers 52 and 55
  • Sunday, Nov. 16 and Monday, Nov. 17, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
    Outside lane closures while crews pave the roadway.

— I-10 Eastbound Rest Area and Truck Parking Improvements

  • Near mile markers 59 and 60
  • Monday, Nov. 17 and Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • The I-10 westbound rest area at mile marker 60 will be temporarily closed for paving.
    Truck parking at the I-10 eastbound rest area (mile marker 59) remains closed for 120 days and is scheduled to reopen in mid-February 2026. Passenger vehicle parking and facilities remain open.

  • Sunday, Nov. 16 through Thursday, Nov. 20, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Intermittent lane closures for shoulder work.

— State Road 293 Routine Bridge Maintenance

  • North of U.S. 98 over Choctawhatchee Bay
  • Monday, Nov. 17, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m.
  • Intermittent lane closures for routine bridge maintenance.

— State Road 189 Driveway Operations

  • South of State Road 188 (Racetrack Road)
  • Monday, Nov. 17, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Intermittent lane closures for concrete operations.

— State Road 85 Sidewalk Maintenance

  • South of Walter Martin Road in Fort Walton Beach
  • Monday, Nov. 17, through Friday, Nov. 21, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Intermittent lane closures for concrete operations.

— U.S. 331 Resurfacing

  • South of I-10 to U.S. 90
  • Sunday, Nov. 16 through Saturday, Nov. 22
  • The U.S. 331 northbound middle-turn lane is temporarily closed at the U.S. 90 intersection.
  • One northbound left-turn lane and one northbound right-turn lane remain open.
  • Intermittent and alternating U.S. 331 lane closures between Bruce Avenue and U.S. 90 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for paving operations.

— U.S. 98 Intersection Improvements at U.S. 331

  • Sunday, Nov. 16 through Thursday, Nov. 20, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Intermittent lane closures for paving operations.

All activities are weather-dependent and may be rescheduled. FDOT urges drivers to use caution in work zones, especially at night, and to watch for construction crews and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
