SANTA ROSA BEACH, Fla. — The 5th Annual Tom Glavine’s Field of Dreams Golf Outing at Camp Creek Golf Course raised $200,000 to support educational innovation and workforce development through Seacoast Collegiate High School and Northwest Florida State College South Walton Center, organizers announced.
Hosted by Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Tom Glavine and joined by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, the event on October 13 brought together business and community leaders for a day of competition and philanthropy.
Mr Glavine said the golf outing’s success reflects the community’s shared commitment to advancing education.
“I’ve always believed sports have the power to bring people together for something bigger,” said Mr Glavine.
“This event does exactly that. The support raised here today directly helps young people in our community gain the skills, education, and confidence they need to build successful futures right here at home.”
Proceeds benefit the South Walton Center, a collaborative project between Seacoast Collegiate High School and Northwest Florida State College (NWFSC). The center provides dual enrollment, college degree programs, and workforce development opportunities tailored to the area’s economic growth.
The initiative reached a milestone this fall with the opening of the new Seacoast Collegiate High School and NWFSC buildings, creating a connected learning environment for students pursuing both academic and career goals.
Dr Tom Miller, executive director of Seaside School, said the partnership marks a defining step for Walton County education.
“By uniting high school and college education on one campus, we’re giving students a direct pathway from learning to career readiness,” Dr Miller said.
“It’s a model that not only transforms education, but strengthens the workforce, supports local families, and elevates our entire community.”
Callie Cox, director of advancement and donor relations for the Seaside School Foundation, added that the community’s generosity underscores its investment in future opportunities.
“The success of this year’s Field of Dreams Golf Outing demonstrates just how much our community believes in investing in the future,” Ms Cox said.
“The funds raised will expand access to advanced coursework, technology, and professional development, ensuring that every student, no matter their background, has the opportunity to succeed.”
Tournament champions included Jamey Price, JR Holden, John Davenport, and Jeff Roland (First Place, Gross Results) and McKenzie Burleigh, Kristy Holditch, Arlease Ciatto, and Kevin Rosa (First Place, Net Results).
Contest winners were Miranda Corchis and Peyton Glavine for Longest Drive, Courtney Fields and David Kapitanoff for Closest to the Pin, and McKenzie Burleigh for the 50/50 raffle.
