Munitions test to close Gulf waters south of Fort Walton Beach Aug. 26

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. — The U.S. Air Force will conduct munitions testing in the Gulf on August 26 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., officials with Eglin Air Force Base have announced.

Back-up missions are scheduled for August 27 and August 28 during the same time frame.

The testing will take place about 30 nautical miles south of Fort Walton Beach and approximately 70 nautical miles south of Apalachicola.

All vessels are required to remain clear of the active hazard area while the tests are underway. Advisories and local notices to mariners will be broadcast on Channel 16 and HF upper sideband 2182 kilohertz by the Eglin Joint Test and Training Operations Control Center.
